Pat Gelsinger's five words to remember Luis...

If you were in his presence, you knew you were going to feel the presence of Jesus because he just believed everybody needed to go with him to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Upon Luis’ passing, I came up with five "P"s to remember him by.

The first, preach. Luis loved to preach the Word. I always knew when seeing him preach that if he said there was just one more point to make in a sermon, we would be there 10 more minutes because he loved to preach the Word. And as you see in 2 Timothy 4:2, we should preach the word in season and out and always be prepared. That was Luis, one who preached the Word.

Second, passionate for evangelism. If you were in his presence, you knew you were going to feel the presence of Jesus because he just believed everybody needed to go with him to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Luis was passionate for evangelism. His entire life was dedicated to spreading the Good News all around the world to bring more people into relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Third, pure. “Be holy, as I am holy” (1 Peter 1:6). He lived his life with a purity of truth, honesty, and integrity. You know, if you gave $1 to the Palau Association, it would never be extravagant. It would never be shoddy. It would be used for the gospel, for evangelism. Pure.

Fourth, prepared. When I first met Luis, he was already in his 60s. I asked him, “Why should we get involved? You’re already old.” He was preparing for the future. A future for the ministry with Kevin, Andrew, Keith, the Global Network of Evangelists, City Gospel Movements, and now also many digital initiatives. He was preparing the ministry well past when he was in that role of leadership because he was preparing for the future.

And finally, he was pressing on to the finish line, as we see in 1 Corinthians 9:24. Running the race all the way through the finish line. And we saw him preaching, teaching, and living a life of integrity to the very end. He was pressing on to the finish line.

And with these five "P"s—preaching, passionate, pure, prepared, and pressing to the end—we can remember this tremendous man and his life, and all that he has done for the Gospel and for so many others. And Luis, I look forward to meeting you at the gates of Heaven. You’re going before us to be there with our Savior, the life that you’ve always looked forward to. It was an honor to know you and see all the work you accomplished for the Lord during your life. And just one last thing… I’m coming to see and be with you in Heaven. Thank you, Luis, and see you soon.
